When you were a kid, were there any early activities that might indicate you’d one day become a pilot?
I did all the extreme sports: skate parks, dirt bikes, race cars, etc. I just like going fast. So, I guess it makes sense?
What was the circumstance that led you to the DZ for the first time?
BASE jumping; I was watching a lot of Nitro Circus at the time. (14 years ago) My first jump was AFF. In three months, I made 300 skydives, became a rigger and started BASE jumping. I was hooked.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TO BE AROUND SKYDIVING?
Aside from it being super fun? All the unique friends you make in the sport.
WHAT’S THE BEST / MOST MEMORABLE FLIGHT YOU’VE EVER MADE?
A cross country trip to Flagstaff with a buddy for ramen. We flew over the Grand Canyon, ate ramen and drank a lot of Japanese whiskey.
AS A PILOT, WHAT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST MEANINGFUL JUMPS YOU’VE PARTICIPATED IN?
One of my most memorable / meaningful jumps was as the jumper: A demo into downtown Chicago with a beach landing. There were thousands of people watching, it was pretty cool.
